Abbey Park Jun 13, 2017
A large park with beautifully designed gardens in the north of Leicester, just a short walk away from the city centre. There are two caf├ęs, sports grounds, playgrounds and a miniature railway in the park. It's a good place to relax a little or have a nice walk and of course, it is popular with families.

The abbey ruins, which gave the name to the park, are not as spectacular as you may expect. Low walls outlining the former outlines of the buildings are almost everything to be seen. However, some precint walls, the medieval gatehouse as well as the structures which would later become the ruins of Cavendish House are still standing.

The shortest access from the city centre is through St. Margaret's Way, the abbey however is located at the other end of the park close to Abbey Park Road.
