Abbey Court Hostel Dublin Reviews
Good place for the price Mar 18, 2016
Abbey Court has an excellent location just west of O'Connell St at the River Liffey Bridge. There's a tavern right next door, a bakery beside that, and a Starbucks just a few doors down. And of course, Temple Bar is just across the bridge.
Reception is open 24 hours and is staffed by unendingly friendly young people who are willing to help with seemingly anything. I found them more friendly than any staff at any hostel or hotel I have ever stayed at. Seriously.
For €2 per bag, they will securely store your luggage before or after check-in. And if you don't think your bags need secure storage, then they will store them for free in their unsecure bag room.
All rooms are en-suite, and there are extra toilets and showers in the hallways on each floor for when the en-suite is in use.
There is a nicely stocked kitchen, and a free and decent breakfast is served every morning. Hint: wait until 8 am because they don't put out the cheese and meat until then.
The only thing I didn't like is that the only group social lounge with comfortable chairs and couches is in the basement, and you have to walk through a maze of room to get to it. However its almost impossible to have a conversation because the room is dominated by a big screen tv that's constantly in use for television or video games.
