A Touch of Heart Jaisalmer Reviews
Giving pens to kids Sep 22, 2011
It is my friend idea. We met some kids in Fatehpur Skiri in Agra, they're asking stuff like pens, chocolate, gums etc. So my friend has this idea of giving pens and sweets to kids. We asked our driver, PC and he said the Jaisalmer is the perfect place for it. We bought our pens and sweets in Jaipur and carried it all the way to Jaisalmer. One pen costs around Rs 5 only.
After spending a night in the desert, we found out that there is a school in our area and we decided to give out our pens to the school kids. We don't have enough for the kids, there are 150 students and we only have like 100 pens ( I gave mine to the Nepal workers in the hotel we're staying in the Jaisalmer city). We bought a lot more from a local store nearby the school.
The school is only consists of two blocks. The younger ones are learning Mathematics in a shaded block while the elder ones learning English in classroom. As we give out the pens, those kids are thrilled! They are lining up (although they kinda unorganized at the first place but thanks to the headmaster and a older brother in charge, they lined up) and they are so happy when they got their pen and started writing with it. One small thing that we considered tiny and unmeaningful can be so much empowering for them.
Good luck kids! May you guys find happiness in you!
