'A S' Echo Cafe and Bar. Mar 11, 2009
'A S'Echo is an old Scow, built in 1905, it worked as a coastal trader for many years before becoming the freight link between Wellington and Blenheim. During World War 11 it was commissioned by the Navy and as part of the war effort sailed the Pacific for 3 years, before returning to the run between Wellington and Blenheim again, which it continued doing until 195 when it was retired. The Echo was sailed around to Picton Harbour where it was refurbished into a tourist attraction as a Cafe and bar permanently moored on the edge of the harbour.

It is really enjoyable to sit upon the upper deck with a glass of wine or a hot coffee watching the boats move around the harbour and even better when able to watch the sun setting over the harbour.

Inside the Echo there are many old historical photos showing some of the varied asspects of its career.
