A&O Prague Metro Strizkov Dec 27, 2016
A&O is a German hotel/hostel chain and I had already stayed in one of their hostels in Dresden in March 2008. I am usually not too keen on staying in a German accommodation somewhere in a foreign country, but the price was simply unbeatable, so that I decided to book it for three nights at the end of December 2015 as well as end of December 2016.

The A&O Prague Metro Strizkov was opened in June 2012 in the building of the former Hotel Fortuna Luna. It is a 14 storey tower block with more than 1000 beds in a range of rooms, from singles to 6 bedded dorms. From the reviews I knew that it is popular for school and bus trips, especially of German groups. As I travelled at the end of December, I was sure to not meet any German school trips here.

On both my visits I booked a single room with breakfast online on the hotel's website for 504 CZK (2015) and 719 CZK (2016). My simple and practical furnished rooms on the second floor were surprisingly large and clean. I even had a table with two chairs behind a half-wall, as well as a safe. The latter cost an additional 56 CZK for the stay. The bathroom was large and clean as well. WiFi worked well in my room.

The buffet style breakfast offered a bit of everything from hot sausages and cereals to bread, yoghurt and fruits.

The lobby area was even equipped with a small bar and an ATM (cash point). Staff was friendly and I can higly recommend this place for travellers with a small budget. The only downside was the fact that all doors to the rooms close very loudly, so it might make sense to bring ear plugs.

The A&O Prague Metro Strizkov is situated in a residential area of the district Strizkov. The nearest metro station is Strizkov (line C), which can be reached in 5 minutes on foot from the hotel. A metro trip to the city centre takes approximately 15 minutes.
