Cruise to Lake Lucerne Sep 25, 2015
Switzerland, a land known for the beautiful landscapes and snow caped mountains. One of the best way to enjoy the beautiful landscape would be to go on a Cruise ship (a steam ship) that is approx. 2 hours from Brunnen all the way to Luzern.

Along the way, you will be greeted by sceneries of mountains both green and snow caped together with traditional Alpine houses. Such a calming sight. The ship makes multiple stops along the way so in case someone gets sea sick you can get to shore in no time lol! Just kidding, you can also board the ship from one of these stops if you find the full journey too long.

If it gets too chilly sitting on the upper deck (on the roof), there is also a dining option on the lower deck within the ship or you can check out the steam engines at work. I did a video of it since this was my first steam ship ride. The ship also makes a “beep beep” sound once it starts moving from each stop. Have your tickets with you at all times as they do check. We had initially board 2nd class tickets meaning we are not allowed to enjoy the upper deck seats. So when the lady came to check, we paid an additional top-up so that we can continue to sit at the upper deck.

A Cruise on the Lake Lucerne Mar 08, 2008
The history of the Lucerne Navigation Company (SGV) started in 1835 with the first steamship "Stadt Luzern". During many years more and more ships were bought. The current fleet comprises about 20 ships, most of them are diesel motor boats but there are still some steamships.

The Lucerne Navigation Company offers a lot of different cruises. The price depends on the distance. There are also special cruises that include a meal. The foodbridge of the SGV is on the opposite side of the train station. Just cross the street, walk through the triumphal arch and cross the other street and you're standing right in front of the foodbridge.

You can combine the cruise with a hike, a ride with a mountain railway or what ever.
