A Brasileira (The bar)
A Brasileira (The bar) Reviews
A Brasileira (The bar) Jul 28, 2009
Situated in the centre of Lisbon you can be lucky to find this wonderful old cafe A Brasileira. The cafe reminds me of a cafe version of a classic Café Brun in Brussels, with it darkened by patina walls and enough to spend your whole day looking at the details of the walls and ceiling.
Along the whole lengths of the cafe you have a long bar where people jump in for a cup of coffee and a small beer, in the Spanish style (in and out in 2-5 minutes). The rest of the cafe is filled with small tables and chairs and a lot of tourists drinking coffee and tasting their wonderful Portuguese pastry. The waiters are mostly old and grumpy but it is also fun to watch. Don't expect service and I guess these guys behind the counter are tired of answering questions about the different cakes they have. Their prices are fair. They have also outdoor service where you are almost sitting on a square where street artists have their second home. The ones I heard were good.
