99 Hanover st

met up with an old friend for lunch who lived in Edinburgh, and suggested 99 Hanover st as a place to eat. The location is obviously on Hanover st, just off of George st, so pretty central. Inside the place has a kind of lounge feel to it, like you should be reading a broadsheet whilst sipping brandy or something, but very relaxed and with great character. The tables are well spread out so your not sitting on top of the other diners/drinkers. The menus arrive in the form of old comic books which gave you something to read after you'd decided what to order. I ordered "the best club sandwhich in the world" which is a big title to live upto.....but they weren't far wrong. The sanwhich itself was superb and was a twist on the classic sanwhich giving it a slightly more sophisticated feel ;) From the clean plate opposite me i'm guessing my friend enjoyed their dish too. The menu isn't extensive but has some nice takes on classic lunches. The ambiance of the place was great for meeting up with an old friend and the prices were resonable for the kind of establishment it is :)
