9 de Octubre Avenue Guayaquil Reviews

Walking along 9 de Octubre in downtown Guayaquil Jul 19, 2009
Guayaquil downtown is not that beautiful. It was a Spanish Colony and there are some buildings back from these days, but they are not as gorgeous as in other cities, nevertheless there are some nice ones, but not well maintained... :(
Anyway if you are in town and want to kill some time, you can take a long walk along the busy 9 de Octubre. This avenue is the most important, very commercial and always full of people. Start at the "Parque Centenario", kept on walking in your way to the Malecon and you'd find the San Francisco Square, with the San Francisco Church. You'd be walking distance from the Cathedral, very nice, which you can easily watch while you are walking and the Bolivar park is in front of it. This is the iguana park, worth it to stop there. There are also nice restaurants nearby, when you are getting closer to the Malecon and San Francisco Square. During the week this avenue if full with people going to work and on Sundays is crowded by families just chilling out. Part of the First time in Ecuador, but definitely not the last one :) travel blog
