85C Bakery Cafe Shanghai Reviews
Coffee and cake to go Oct 16, 2011
We accidentally bumped into the 85 C Bakery cafe when changing from Maglev onto the subway of Shanghai. Since we hadn't had breakfast yet, this looked like the ideal place.
85C Bakery Cafe is a Taiwanese chain of coffee shops, that has branches all over Shanghai.
The branch at the entrance of Longyang Road metro station is large with ample sitting space. Though I cannot say that the tables were clean. The crumbs from previous patrons were still there, but it wasn't a real mess either.
In the front there is an enormous self service counter with a wide variety of breads, sweet and salted pastries and plenty of cakes.
Then in the back there is a 2nd counter for hot drinks:coffee, milk tea and the likes. The staff speaks adequate English and it did not take too long to prepare our order.
The pineapple Danish I tried was really good. Not like the spongy over sweetened pastries one often tend to find in Asia.
Even though prices are on the higher end, the coffee and food was well worth the money.
85C is a great place for a quick breakfast or coffee and sweet on the go.
