Delicious, Affordable and Award-winning Food! Dec 07, 2011
Latest update, 85 Fengshan centre will be closed from Feb 2012 for upgrading. The upgrading will take about a year.

Located in the easten part of Singapore, Bedok North has the country best minced pork noodle. In fact, Singapore eastern area has some of the best food in Singapore and most Singaporeans will come here for food at Katong for their laksa, Joo Chiat, Bedok, Tampines, Changi hawker centre and East Coast park for chili crab and seafood restaurants.

I went to Fengshan centre at Bedok North, which houses both wet market and hawker stalls, after visiting my younger brother who was hospitalized for extremely high creatine kinase after he completed the Standard Chartered marathon. Well, folks if you want to run marathon, make sure you have sufficient warm-up exercises and hydrate yourself well. He has since recovered.

Feng Shan Centre has some of the local favorite and award-winning minced pork noodle and popular stingray and really delicious char quay teow at the Newton fried hokkian mee stall. There are also chicken rice stall and award-winning omelette oyster and many other food.

I tried the char quay teow aka fried flat noodle. It is really hard to find one with authentic taste since most dedicated owners have already retired or passed on. The char quay teow comes with egg, sausage, and cockles dosed in black sweet sauce and some other sauces. When I took a bite, I knew that I would be coming to this stall for fried quay teow. My parents ordered fried hokkian mee (hokkian is a dialect group from Southern China) and fried dumpling noodle. I tried it and I thought there is plenty of room for improvement.

The food here is really affordable, for example a plate of fried quay teow cost S$3.00. Give this place a try instead of the famous Newton hawker centre where it is more expensive.
