80s and Gentlemen Band

Well as I mentioned in my previous reviews, I had planned to spend my weekend in Phoenix with my dear Travbuddy girlfriend Robyn (freespirit3) but due to unavoidable circumstances, I had to reconsider my travel plans for the weekend. I managed to go and attend the Southern Arizona Adventure Company happy hour at the Luna Bella Italian Restaurant with a mind to go to Boondocks bar afterwards to meet my Bosnian friend Zlatko. While at Luna Bella my SAAC friends managed to convince me that the Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar was the place to be after dinner: we would go and dance there to live music they said, so Skybox it was (this meant I would be standing my friend since I could not go to Boondocks Bar, my ride Matt was not very willing to drive there). The reason Skybox was popular last night was because the band "80s and Gentlemen" would be playing there, I must confess until last night I had never heard of them, not had I been to Skybox. Skybox Restaurant & Sorts Bar is located at the intersection of River and Craycroft Road in the River Center.

We arrived at a little after 9:00 pm but decided to have dinner at the Japanese restaurant first, while at the Japanese restaurant I did receive a call from my friend Zlatko who I also convinced to join us at Skybox; he agreed reluctantly. After dinner we headed over to Skybox where many of the SAAC members had already arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the head wear of the band members, quite colorful and fancy. The music was so inviting that I dashed over to dance before ordering a drink or finding a table to sit at. My friends Sue and Matt just laughed. It was not long before they joined in the dancing, the band played very well. The dance floor was filled to capacity at each song that was played. The only down side was that the dance floor was small and quite limiting for the number of people that wanted to dance, a little more dancing room would have been great. The band ROCKS! If you get a chance, go see them. They are scheduled to be playing at the Skybox on October 16th and 23rd, both are Friday nights. If you love dancing, I highly recommend you go to one of their performances. They play the best 80s music and it's fun and entertaining...
