7th Army Memorial with Sherman and Iraqi T-72 Tanks on Kelley Barracks May 07, 2009
On Kelley Barracks in Stuttgart-Mohringen, Germany near the Stuttgart Airport and SI Centrum/Mercedes Benz Headquarters complexes, is a memorial for the US 7th Army. The memorial consists of a painted concrete unit emblem on the ground with a plaque on a stand flanked by the American and German flag poles, with an M4 Sherman tank to the left and an Iraqi T-72 tank from DESERT STORM on the right.
The cost is free to visit if you can get on the Kelley Barracks post with military ID, but you are not supposed to take photos (since 9/11) and risk having your camera confiscated by the security police unless you get permission from Public Affairs.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Kelley Barracks and Kelley Hotel are named for Medal of Honor recipient (posthumously) Staff Sergeant Jonah Edward "Eddie" Kelley, 311th Infantry, 78th Infantry Division, for valiant action the night of 30-31 January 1945 in Kestrich, Germany, according to the Department of the Army General Orders (DAGO) on the sign across the street from Kelley Hotel.
