Bustling yet cozy atmosphere.

If you like oysters, this is the place for you. There is a designated section of the dining room called the "Oyster Bar." I don't like oysters, but the area is usually quite full so I'm going to assume they're good.

Although the 42nd Street Oyster Bar has plenty to choose from besides what the name suggests, I unapologetically order the same dinner every time I go: Norfolk Style Scallops. For a little over $20 your plate is mounded with 10-12 huge sautéed sea scallops. (That's pretty much unheard of in my experience.) I'm also a fan of their mashed potatoes. That meal added to a choice of salad or coleslaw AND an unlimited supply of hush puppies leaves me busting at the seams...doggie bag included.

If you want to give the restaurant a try. but are worried about expenses, you can go for lunch during the week between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM. It's always at the top of the list whenever my parents or my in-laws come to visit.

Note: If the parking lot is full, there is extra parking across the street.
