Fresh Gourmet Bistro in Fremont District Feb 28, 2008
Sitting in the street window eating my $14 burger I couldn't stop thinking how nice the space at the 35th Street Bistro. If I were ever to open my own restaurant, this is the sort of look to which I would aspire - simple, well-lit, romantic, and unpretentious. It's all about the tree in the middle, and a seat by the window for brunch is about as good as it gets in Seattle.
Back to the burger. What kind of amateur serves a burger that's too big to fit in your mouth? Furthermore, what kind of amateur serves a burger that falls apart while I'm trying to eat it? This isn't a novelty diner, this is a bistro. The flavors (blue cheese and bacon!) were pretty good, but the experience was a bust. People keep raving about the fries, but their only notable feature was the dusting of herbs.
