2 Weeks in Los Angeles

Good list by Jeffy. Expanding upon it: the Getty Center and/or the Griffith Observatory are musts... they are the two best views of Los Angeles. Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd is a big tourist attraction, so is Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Wander around Venice Beach on a weekend and you will see a mix of incredibly unusual people. The closest you can possibly get to the Hollywood sign is if you drive up Beachwood Drive, take a left on Ledgewood and take it all the way to the top, continue onto Durand Dr. It's a bit tricky but you won't get better pictures of the sign anywhere else. The 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is cool to walk around, the Santa Monica Pier is also pretty famous. Take a drive along Mulholland Dr for great views of both LA and the valley side. Also check out Malibu for some nice beaches.

I would highly suggest renting a car if that's an option. LA is really spread out, so getting around without one isn't fun.
