  Beautiful afternoon drive Jul 02, 2008
17 mile drive is a scenic loop near Monterey. If the weather is good, it is a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. There are lots of areas to pull out and enjoy the view during the drive, including a spot near the iconic tree of Pebble Beach. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the tree because I was too busy checking out the surf. Ghost Tree, a heavy, big wave spot (where a surfer died last year), is also along this drive, but there seem to be lots of points and breaks scattered around the coast that might be interesting to check out.
Costs a small fee ($10, I think), to drive into this gated area.

The 17 Mile drive and drive to the Big Sur were relaxing and beautiful. The views are amazing, and it is definately worth stopping along the way to take pictures and take in the scenery.
