"Iceland on Track" Tour Reviews

The bulk of this day's journey was taken up by an unforgettable tour with the company "Iceland on Track". I had been to Iceland a few times before and wanted to do something a bit different from the bus tours I had been on in the past. As a result, I booked a private tour to the Langjökull glacier range. Given the cost of doing this, I was quite apprehensive, but the experience turned out to be worth a lot more than what I paid.
The day started out in Reykjavík where I was picked up on a massive 4x4 fully equipped with various gadgets such as GPS and satellite phones. The first stop was the Nesjavellir Geothermal Plant, moved onto the Þingvellir National Park, drove cross-country to reach Geysir, moved onto the waterfall Gullfoss (where we stopped briefly for some lunch) and then onto Langjökull. When you reach Langjökull, you have the option to rent a snowmobile. However, I was more than happy to roll about the snow. Afterwards, we made a short visit to the crater Kerið, and drove through the greenhouse town of Hveragerði before returning to Reykjavík. Words cannot describe simply how amazing this trip was, and the photos attached only come close. Our driver, Ómar Sigurðsson, was very friendly and informative and I would be happy to have him as a guide on any future trips. Part of the Iceland - March 2007 travel blog |
